Justice for an innocent DEAD student

A student of IIIT Allahabad dies due to carelessness of institute's bus driver, and what does the Deputy Finance Officer has to say on this - "So what?? Many people die in this country"!!!

This is what IIIT Allahabad administration has been for the past 10 years or so. The director of the college didn't even consider demise of Akshay Tyagi, sad  enough to atleast close the institute for a day. Moreover it has been reported that witness of incident was threatened by Director - M.D. Tiwari to not report any accusation against the institute. This all was enough to get the students of the college on THE ROAD. To suppress the revolt one of the faculties even tried to harass a student physically so that students get scared and stop the revolution.

This particular director has opened yet another institute in his name - Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Information Technology which he uses for an excuse of development to fill his pockets. Students have been treated very miserably over all these years. All the admin behaves very rudely to all the students. And after all these suffering and this particular incident We Want this Director out of college. Please support the IIITians as this director is a politician and has lot of powers in his hands. Please give us your support and spread the word around. We the real IIIT-family thank you from the bottom of our hearts for reading this message. Pls let this revolt grow with your support!!!!!

  3. Yes, This is quite true. I am an alumus (2008 pass-out) of this college, and we all know that students in this college have never been treated with respect. A bunch of illiterate , undeserving, and totally unethical individuals under the patronage of most corrupt director are running this institution. Alumini, We need some comments and stories of truth here for the world to know that IIIT-A deserves better than a dictator. If it can happen in Egypt and Libiya, it should happen here as well. Time for the director to step down. Mr Murli Dhar Tiwari - you won't get even one alumini saying something nice about you. Shame on you !!

  10. Time and again, the voices have been raised and every time suppressed by either punishing a chunk of students so badly that others go on backfoot or after few months of suspension, some mental trauma and a heavy amount of fine(Of course without a receipt). They give shit to eat, but you have to bear with it as mess workers and guards have more power than students. They will shout on you or might beat you but there is no one, no administration students can go and complain. Number of incidents in the history of IIIT-A, where those who complained were either beaten badly or made culprit and punished after sometime.

The clear message is if you complain, you have to suffer and even best of the professors are not spared. http://www.scribd.com/doc/24993983/An-Appeal-from-IIITA-professor-Must-Read

I just hope this time things will turn out well and some probe will be set up to end up the black days for IIIT-A.

  13. Guys,
    A few suggestions.

    1. Standing and shouting in front of the admin building is not going to get you far. Its only going to get you tired, exhausted and eventually, demoralised. Thats exactly what these guys are betting on.

    2. Try and get local media involved. If any of you can find any contacts, talk to those people. Have them broadcast peaceful dharnas and rallys on the institute campus. Create a buzz around the issue. Do NOT talk at all with the institute administration. Talk only to media and reporters.
Just tell the institute: Here are our demands. We are gonna sit here and wait until you accept them. No need for a long chat over it. Again, talk only to the media and reporters.

    3. Bring the institute to a complete stop. No one goes to classes. Professor teach empty classrooms.

    4. Some of you might get individual punishments. I know its hard, but no one said it was gonna be easy.

This is your own little independence movement. Treat it like one.

    Cheers
    Suchit

  15. going by the circumstances of the incident, one more thing that i thought would be important to mention is that we should also ask for a security-guard be deployed/given charge to take care of students getting on the bus....we obviously can't think of such an incident taking place near main campus gate from where the students get on to outgoing buses...because there's a proper stop there and the chances that students try to get onto a running bus are little....imho...this point "must" not get left aside in just asking for better amenities from the admin

  16. If at all this has to be a strike, make it big, sit on hunger strike near comissioner office, and ask for local MP or MLA to interfere. If possible, get a spokesperson who is not a student, ex-student or may be a human right activist.

  23. Raghav has hit nail on the head.

Kapil Sibal's website is great way to let government know about this.

Let us search for other minister's websites and send the matter there. I am sure justice will be done.

  24. All through these years ,We have been hearing of MDT's retirement. He has become immortal it seems. He has been ruling IIITA with sheer "Tanasahi" and has been treating institute as his parental "jaagir" with all his high profile political connections backing him up.We live in a democratic world and It's high time the bas**** is shown the door.

We are all are with you to support the cause.

  31. Do any one of you have any contact for media at Allahabad. The students need support now to go ahead. These directors and the local staff should endup their honeymoon period now. They should be punished and the illegal practices going at the college should be taken care off. We need to have support of local media for this.

  34. I remember a dialogue from 3 idiots

MDT ne IIIT-A bahut kam kiya
    Unhe Balatkar pe balatkar kiya
Saare freshers sochte hein ki ek aadmi apne zindagi mein itne balatkar kaise kar sakte hein.

So guys usko(MDT) balatkar kardo aur
    aisa uska naam roshan kardo

  35. With the college closed indefinitely, I feel there is no point in all the crowd standing in front of the admin. A group of students must protest in front of the director's house as well in a peaceful manner. I sympathize the condition of students at present and support you all for your victory. Just think about my suggestion

    ReplyDelete
  36. This is the one side of the story, I think everyone learned person in this forum should first see the whole story and not just the one side of the coin. The original issues of the student is lost and now the whole issue is becoming political. I think some internal member is involved in instigating the student.

I request all of you not let the name of the institution die for this cause. we should feel sorry for the family who has suffered and lets kicked out the one who is trying to play fowl.

My request to each and everyone of the society is to think twice before letting this institution die and to think what has been achieved so far with the support of everyone.
